Expansion of Union Training
Construction of a training centre for International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Workers – Local 752 was recently completed at our Lakeside Training Facility. Local 752 invested $1.2 million into the project with the shop being used to train Ironworkers from across the province.
Ironworkers Local 752 delivers the apprenticeship level training for Nova Scotia. This new state-of-the-art training centre will provide apprentices the latest technology to support their journey to achieve their Red Seal Ironworker Journeyperson Certification. The first class, consisting of third year apprentices is currently underway.
The Ironworkers’ space is the latest addition to the Building Trades’ training offerings. Other trades training happening in our Lakeside facility includes Construction Electrician; Commercial Painter; Glazier; Labourer and Insulator.
The Building Trades are the province’s largest private sector trainer, investing more than $7 million in training annually.
