Our Mission

To provide highly-trained, safe-working Industrial-Commercial-Institutional (ICI) tradespersons to the Nova Scotia construction industry.

We are driven to become synonymous with sound investment and growth in mainland Nova Scotia by forging partnerships with owners and developers.

Our mandate includes promoting and developing business for our members and providing a united front on issues affecting the professional trades. We are the voice of organized construction. We work everyday to promote our value, create positive exposure, and advance the objectives of the Building Trades.

We strive to enhance opportunities for our 13 member unions and the professional tradespersons they represent. The depth of experience rendered by our membership is truly impressive and ever-increasing.

With over 11,000 professional tradespeople in Nova Scotia, including 3000 apprentices, the Unionized Building Trades make up a significant portion of the Province’s working middle class. Our goal is to be the preferred source of labour supply for the Industrial-Commercial-Institutional (ICI) sector.

The Mainland Nova Scotia Building Trades Council partners with various industry organizations to achieve shared interests, including:

Atlantic Economic Council
