Our Mission

The mission of the Mainland Building Trades Council is to provide highly trained, safe working Industrial-Commercial-Institutional (ICI) tradespersons to the Nova Scotia construction industry. By forging partnerships with owners and developers, we are driven to become synonymous with sound investment and growth in mainland Nova Scotia.

Our mandate includes promoting and developing business for our 12,000 members, and providing a united voice on issues affecting the professional trades. We are the voice of organized construction, we work every day to promote our value, create positive exposure, and advance the objectives of the Building Trades.

We strive to enhance the opportunities for our thirteen member unions and the professional tradespersons they represent. The depth of experience represented by our membership is truly impressive and ever increasing.

With over 12,000 professional tradespeople, including 3,000 apprentices in Nova Scotia, the Unionized Building Trades makes up a significant portion of our working middle class. Our goal is to become the preferred source of labour supply for the Industrial-Commercial-Institutional sector.
